SSL certificate monitoring
Check it once with the free tool, then let Sitewell watch it for you.
An expired SSL certificate takes a site down all at once. The certificate is valid right up to the moment it is not, and then every visitor hits a full-page security warning at the same time. Nothing warns you the day before.
The free SSL checker tells you the expiry date today. SSL monitoring is the part that remembers it for you: Sitewell rechecks the certificate on a schedule and sends an alert well before the date arrives, so a renewal that quietly failed becomes an email instead of an outage.
What Sitewell watches for you
Expiry alerts before it matters
Pick a warning window, and Sitewell tells you that many days before the certificate expires, with time to renew calmly rather than scramble.
Domain expiry watched too
The same monitor tracks your domain registration, the other clock that can take a site offline, so neither deadline slips past.
Issuer and chain checks
Sitewell notes the certificate issuer and flags an unexpected change, which can hint at a reissue or misconfiguration you did not order.

Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance will I be warned?
- You choose the window. Two weeks is a sensible minimum; thirty days gives more room if a renewal needs manual steps or approvals. Sitewell alerts you that many days before the certificate or domain expires.
- Doesn't auto-renewal make this unnecessary?
- Auto-renewal helps, but it fails quietly. Renewal jobs break after server changes, validation checks stop resolving, and payments lapse. Monitoring confirms the renewal actually happened instead of assuming it did.
- Does it monitor the domain registration too?
- Yes. The monitor watches both the SSL certificate and the domain registration, since either expiring can take a site down, and they renew through different providers on different schedules.
